Direct Thermal Printer Consumables
Unlike other printing methods, Direct Thermal printers operate without inks, toners or ribbons. Instead, printing relies on implementation of the right printhead and label media. Label media designed for Direct Thermal printing is chemically treated and heat-sensitive, and it blackens to create sharp, high-contrast labels with excellent scannability.
Direct Thermal print can be long-lasting, but only in the right environments. Overexposure to heat, direct sunlight or abrasion can cause the label material to darken and become unreadable. Top coats on the label media post-print can help mitigate this risk, but for harsh and extreme applications, Thermal Transfer printing is the recommended way to go.
